Julianne Holland
Artist, Designer, Teacher and CEO
Julianne began holding creative space for the women of remote communities 6 years ago with a vision to help and encourage her community to let go of fear, self doubt and limiting blocks through art and creativity. Originally birthed in the Pilbara Desert in Western Australia Jules formed Aphrodite Art School under the ethos that ‘there’s no such thing as bad art’ and it runs like a current through every thing she does and every creative container that she facilitates.
Julianne inspires her students and instils in them a freedom to create without judgement and expectation, she encourages her students to live their lives with this same ethos, to express their own truth courageously and give themselves permission to play and explore the world around them with childlike abandon. Julianne has been described as tenacious, credited to independently bootstrapping two businesses simultaneously, working as a park ranger in some of the most remote parks in qld, representing Australia at the world ranger congress in USA, working alongside villagers to rebuild the Kokoda trail in PNG, Pursuing her creative practice through oil painting, alongside spending her time teaching art and creativity to adults, children, seniors and people with disabilities.
Jules is also the proud owner of Beltera, a nationally renowned and regularly published hat label, respected for some of the most unique and finest quality hats crafted in Australia. She has successfully grown both businesses starting from the bottom while working tirelessly to realise her vision.
When teaching Julianne draws from her formal studies in Fine Art at university, a lifetime of creating and exhibiting plus many years of dedicated self education, exploring her own creative blocks and barriers. She also draws wisdom from her many years working as a park ranger in some of the most remote, wild frontiers, jungles and islands of the world. Her connection and grounding into the natural flow of nature saturates everything she teaches. Providing a truly connected and grounding experience.
Julianne’s perspective and approach is enriched with the life experiences, challenges and gifts of being neuro-diverse, enabling her to not only view the world from a unique perspective but to also welcome and accommodate neuro-diverse people and children into her creative workshops with understanding and compassion.
In her personal practice Jules is an oil painter. Her large scale oil paintings are vibrant and expansive while her portraits and figure paintings captivate the spirit and mood of her subjects. Jules takes on a limited no. of commission paintings a year but always welcomes new enquiries.
