TESTIMONIALS

My creative mentoring session with Julianne was genuinely impactful. She didn’t just inspire me, she gave me practical direction I could apply straight away.

When I first started working with Julianne, I had no idea where to start. Now I have a professional portfolio I’m proud of and I’m working confidently in a creative job I love.

I walked away feeling motivated, clear on my next steps, and a lot more confident in how I’m moving forward creatively. She has a way of cutting through the noise and getting to what actually matters, without overcomplicating things.

She gave me the clarity and direction I was missing.

Getting to know and work with Jules has been one of the most defining moments in my arts journey. Jules's experience and honesty has helped me take my arts practice to the next level and open my eyes up to opportunities that I could have never imagined. With both her techniqual expertise and knowledge of and  experience with the arts world Jules has helped me in a many number of ways.

She has helped guide me through understanding and undertaking my university assignments, she has helped me create a personal practice that is both meaningful and practical as well as continuing to inspire me to push myself in all aspects of my life. Her quiet reassurance and loud championing of the people she works with go hand in hand to create a wonderful foundation of encouragement and inspiration that continue long after the first meeting.

I would highly encourage anyone who needs help to push themselves to the next next level to spend some time with Jules and soak up even a small bit of her passion for helping people through art.

JASMINE MICK / SUNNY DAYS STUDIO

Working with Jules at Aphrodite Art School and attending various workshops and mentorship sessions has been the most transformative journey for my creative practice. Her mentorship has helped me grow not only as an artist, but also as a woman, a mother, and a storyteller exploring my voice.

During our sessions, Jules created a space where my ideas were both challenged and respected in the healthiest way. We discussed early concepts for my solo exhibitions exploring femininity, identity, and the relationship between the female form and nature. She also helped me refine my recently accepted self‑portrait Dissociate, which follows my birth trauma and has now been accepted into the Bayton Awards.

Her guidance and friendship have helped me grow as an artist and pushed me to explore ideas I wouldn’t have had the confidence to pursue on my own.

I have known Juliane both personally and professionally since she first moved to the area, and I have seen firsthand her ability to build and sustain multiple creative ventures from the ground up. She has consistently created spaces that nurture creativity, while actively supporting and uplifting other local artists along the way.

Personally, I have worked with Juliane in developing my self-confidence as an artist, as well as implementing practical, day-to-day approaches that support ongoing creative growth and visibility. Her guidance has been both deeply encouraging and highly actionable, helping me to step forward in my practice with greater clarity and resilience.

Julianne brings a wealth of knowledge, not only in artistic practice but also in the realities of navigating the creative industries over time. I have always found her to be incredibly supportive, insightful, and generous in sharing her knowledge. She has a rare ability to meet artists where they are — whether they are navigating self-doubt or seeking practical direction — and to guide them forward in a way that feels both empowering and achievable. I have also witnessed how she inspires those around her, often helping to unlock creativity in individuals who feel blocked or uncertain in their abilities.

Creative Mentorship with Julianne Holland.

A rigorous and intuitive practice in overcoming creative resistance

Creative resistance is rarely a matter of discipline; it is more often a negotiation with fear. It can appear as hesitation, avoidance, perfectionism, or even indifference—the subtle but persistent force that interrupts momentum and distances artists from their own work. Left unexamined, it has the capacity to shape not only what we create, but whether we create at all. This mentorship is designed to meet that resistance directly, with both clarity and care.

While my background is grounded in art education and the teaching of thousands of students, this work operates in a different register. These sessions are not focused on critiquing or refining your artistic output. Instead, they are devoted to the internal architecture that underpins your creative life: your patterns, beliefs, language, and sense of self as an artist. Together, we examine what is obstructing forward movement—and, more importantly, what becomes possible once those obstructions are understood.

Each mentorship is developed through thoughtful preliminary correspondence and is highly responsive to the individual. No two creative practices—and no two forms of resistance—are the same. Our work may involve identifying patterns of avoidance and self-sabotage, articulating purpose and long-held creative ambitions, examining the role of language in shaping belief and behaviour, and reframing limiting narratives that have quietly directed your decisions. Alongside this, we develop sustainable creative rhythms, establish clear and achievable goals, and cultivate a deeper sense of self-trust and creative autonomy. This is a space for depth, clarity, and recalibration—where insight is not only gained, but integrated into your daily life and practice.

Sessions are available in person at my Yeppoon & Rockhampton studios, or remotely via Zoom or Skype. Working remotely offers a flexible and equally effective format, allowing this work to unfold within the context of your own environment while maintaining the same level of focus and connection.
