Master The Masters

Aphrodite Art School invites you to Master the Masters — a playful, art‑history‑meets-paint-and-sip workshop series where we dive headfirst into the lives, scandals, obsessions and creative genius of history’s most iconic artists.

This is not dry textbook art history. This is the juicy stuff they left out.

Across four monthly workshops, you’ll explore a different master artist each session, learn the fascinating (and sometimes chaotic) stories behind their work, and be guided to create your own artwork inspired by their distinctive style — all in a relaxed, supportive and delightfully unpretentious environment.

What to Expect

• A deep (and deliciously entertaining) dive into one iconic artist per session

• The hidden stories, controversies, muses and moments that shaped their work

• Guided painting sessions inspired by each artist’s signature techniques and visual language

• A warm, encouraging space that welcomes beginners and experienced artists alike

• A relaxed, social atmosphere — bring your favourite drink and snacks and settle in

Think: learning, laughing, painting, sipping — and leaving with a finished artwork you’re proud of.

The Artists We’ll Explore

March 13 — Vincent van Gogh

The tortured genius, the colour, the obsession, the myth. We’ll unpack the man behind the legend and explore expressive brushwork, movement and emotion through paint.

May 15 — Claude Monet

Light, atmosphere and the poetry of the everyday. We’ll explore impressionist techniques and the magic of colour and mood.

June 26 — Georgia O’Keeffe

Strength, sensuality and modern femininity. A deep dive into form, scale and the quiet power of her iconic style.

July 17 — Gustav Klimt

The Kiss by Gustav Klimt is an iconic romantic painting blending Art Nouveau and surrealism while combining paint and gold leaf.

Workshops are facilitated by local artists Rob Connell and Julianne Holland, who bring together technical guidance, storytelling flair and a genuine love of art history — delivered in Aphrodite Art School’s signature style: intelligent, playful and deeply welcoming.

You’ll be supported every step of the way, whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or refining an existing practice.
